Description

If you are playing golf in Yorkshire then a visit to Ilkley is a must. Nestled in the beautiful Wharfe Valley with the famous Moor as a backdrop, Ilkley is one of the most picturesque golf clubs in the country. However golfers must not be fooled by its beauty, as the River Wharfe is an ever-present threat for the first seven holes of this tree-lined course. It is where seven times top European money earner Colin Montgomerie learnt his golf. And it also boasts former Ryder Cup captain Mark James as an honorary life member. An excellent course, top class catering and a warm Yorkshire welcome will ensure a visit to Ilkley Golf Club will be extremely enjoyable. With a par of 69 and standard scratch of 70, this 6262 yard course is a great deal more difficult than it might first appear. Testament to this is the fact that the course record for a professional is only 64 and was set in 2000 by honorary life member Colin Montgomerie, one of the best golfers in the world.
